Overview
In this project, you and your child will create an exciting Rocket Launch animation using Scratch Jr. Your child will learn how to make the rocket and astronaut move and add sound effects to bring the project to life.
Blocks and Features Used
- Yellow: Start on Tap block
- Blue: Motion blocks (Move, Rotate)
- Purple: Looks blocks (Say)

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Set Up: Open Scratch Jr on your device and create a new project.
- Choose Characters: Select the rocket and astronaut characters from the library and place them on the stage.
- Start Block: Use the Yellow Start on Tap block to begin the animation when tapped.
- Rocket Launch:
- Add a Blue Motion block to move the rocket upwards to simulate a launch.
- Use a Purple Looks block to make the astronaut say "3, 2, 1, Blast off!"
- Sound Effects:
- Add a Green Sound block to make a popping sound when the rocket takes off.
Extension Ideas
- Background: Add a space-themed background to make the launch more realistic.
