How to Use Multiple Scenes in Scratch Jr Desktop

In Scratch Jr desktop, you can create multiple scenes by using the "Scene" feature. Here's how:

Why use multiple scenes?

Using multiple scenes allows you to organize your project into different sections or areas, making it easier to manage and navigate. For example, you might have a scene for the main game area, another for a character's dialogue box, and another for a level select menu.

How to create and switch between scenes:

  1. Create a new scene: To start, create a new project in Scratch Jr desktop or open an existing one.
  2. Click on the "Scene" button: In the top-right corner of the screen, click on the "Scene" button (looks like a square with a curved arrow).
  3. Add a new scene: In the Scene menu, click on "New Scene". This will create a new, empty scene.
  4. Name your scene: Give your new scene a name by typing it in the text field and pressing Enter.
  5. Create content for each scene: Start building your scenes by adding sprites, backdrops, costumes, and scripts as you normally would in Scratch Jr.
  6. Switch between scenes: To switch between scenes, click on the "Scene" button again and select the desired scene from the list.

Tips and tricks:

  • Each scene has its own set of sprites, backdrops, and scripts. This means you can reuse sprites or scripts across multiple scenes without worrying about conflicts.
  • You can only have one scene active at a time. When you switch between scenes, Scratch Jr will save the current state of each scene so that you can easily return to where you left off.
  • If you want to create a seamless transition between scenes, you can use the "Go to Scene" block (found in the Control menu) to program your project to automatically jump from one scene to another.

By using multiple scenes in Scratch Jr desktop, you can create more complex and engaging projects that are easy to manage and fun to play with!
